Does a ring magnet have north and south poles?

Ring magnets, also known as circular magnets with holes, are a common type of magnets, and are widely used in the market. The main materials of ring magnets are neodymium iron boron, ferrite, samarium cobalt, etc.

Ring magnets also have north and south poles.

1. For example, axial magnetization, refer to Figure 1. The north and south poles are distributed along the thickness of the ring, for example, the upper surface is the north pole and the lower surface is the south pole (or vice versa).

2. Radial magnetization, refer to Figure 2, this magnetization method is common in some motors and sensors.

3. Multi-pole magnetization, multiple magnetic poles are arranged alternately on the outer or inner circle of the ring magnet (such as N-S-N-....).

How to distinguish the north and south poles of a ring magnet?

The picture shows several common magnetization methods of ring magnets. It can be distinguished by magnet adsorption with known north and south poles, magnetic measuring sheets, gauss meters and other related tools.

Where are the north and south poles?

Are the north and south poles of the ring magnet on the front and back or on the inner and outer rings?

There is no definite answer. The north and south poles of the ring magnet can be on the front and back sides, on the inner and outer rings, or on the left and right sides. We can magnetize the magnet according to customer requirements.
